In 2025, the following changes occurred to the MFTD Waiver:
- Rates were increased slightly. You can see the current rates on the DSCC website.
- Services in the waiver were changed slightly. Some services, such as Home modifications, Vehicle modifications, Environmental modifications, and Pest Control were separated out. New coverage for Adaptive and Assistive devices were added.
We continue to make progress with paid parent caregiving.
Paid parent CNA is ready to start as soon as the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services (CMS) approve the final state plan amendment. Changes to the waiver have already been approved. As the maximum time has elapsed, we expect this approval very soon.
In 2025, the state approved a Family Health Aide program that would allow parents/guardians to be paid for both skilled and unskilled care with new certification provided by a hospital, nursing agency, or transitional facility. This new program requires numerous state agencies to make changes in rules and procedures. It also requires amendments to the waiver and state plan. We expect these changes to take a minimum of two years based on the experience of other states.
