 MFTD Waiver Families

Support for families of children in the Medically Fragile, Technology Dependent Waiver

Urge Governor Rauner to Sign HB 4736

We need your help! A bill in the Illinois General Assembly that supports access to healthcare for the most medically complex children just passed the House and Senate and will be sent to the Governor for signature so that it can become law. House Bill 4736 exempts Medically Fragile and Technology Dependent Children from enrolling in Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCO). Medically Fragile and Technology Dependent kids are children with severe disabilities that need constant care and often require special medical technology such as tracheostomies and ventilators to survive. We ask you to consider sending an e-mail to Governor Rauner urging him to sign HB 4736 into law when he receives it.

Please follow these easy steps:

1. Go to https://www2.illinois.gov/gov/contactus/Pages/VoiceAnOpinion.aspx
2. Fill out name, address, and contact information
2. For Position: select SUPPORT
4. Copy and paste suggested email language and subject line below to an email from you to Governor Rauner

PLEASE SIGN HB 4736!

Dear Governor Bruce Rauner,

As an Illinoisan and strong advocate for children’s health, I urge you to sign House Bill 4736, which exempts medically fragile and technology dependent children from being assigned to the mandatory Medicaid managed care program. The needs of this fragile population of children are immense and managed care organizations are not equipped to work with populations that require such specialty care. HB 4736 passed both the Senate and House with strong bi-partisan support. I urge you to secure the health and future of children with medically complex needs by signing the bill.
